N2 - The implementation of the digital photoelasticity as a tool for the enhancement of the courses of Solid Mechanics is conducted in this work. To this purpose, a methodology for Solid Mechanics? course is proposed; which integrates an experimental analysis of photoelasticity with an analytical approach, based on the theory of elasticity, and a numerical approach, using the finite elements method, for the assessment of full-field stress values. This proposal, in addition to verify the correspondence among the different approaches to measure the stress field, it also highlights the advantages provided by the use of photoelasticity in a Solid Mechanics? course. The results of the usage of photoelasticity, presented here, reformulate the conventional methodology in which Solid Mechanics is usually taught.
